On Data Filtration Algorithms of Automated Defectogram Analysis with Software-Hardware System "ASTRA"
The paper is devoted to automated analysis of defectograms at rail inspection using software-hardware system “ASTRA”. A general structure of analysis algorithms is given. Approaches to a filtration of digital signals from mobile flaw detectors "Echo-complex 1" and "Echo-complex 2" are described. The approaches allow noise filtering, minimizing false flaws amount and saving useful inclined coherent bundles of signals from defects and structural elements of rails and railroad switches.

Use of “Lost” Information for Improvement of Signal Processing Systems in Rail Ultrasonic Flaw Detection
The article considers problems in developing and installing an automated analysis system for multichannel ultrasonic rail testing. It shows that during the process of representing the signals in B-scan mode on the screen only one or two parameters of the six original are store and this is not enough to make effective defect recognition algorithms. It is necessary to consider a Doppler frequency shift and a compressing of the relative size of defect when the ultrasonic car moves at work speed.

Efficiency of Industrial Automated Ultrasonic Inspection
Potentialities and restrictions of industrial automated inspection in Russia are considered in the article. Reasons of growing interest in automated equipment usage have been analyzed. Industrial branches for which usage of NDT equipment manufactured by “KROPUS” is the basis of their successful marketing strategy are given as examples. It is specially highlighted that NDT methods are components of a quality system, which can be effective only if there is modern technologies and qualified personnel.

About Computer Interpretation of X-Ray Films
The real status of X-ray films automated interpretation has been considered. The main idea of the article is that attempts of some companies to impose on the market the software which can automatically interpret X-ray films, is actually a fraud.

Automation of Data Processing and Decision-Making in AE Monitoring of Hazardous Facilities in Chemical and Petrochemical Industry
The short overview of organization and operation principles of multi-channel AE system SHII is given. The system is intended for long integrity monitoring of industrial facilities. The system completely meets the requirements to continuous monitoring systems for automation of data acquisition and processing, has high speed of operation and reliability. Maximal speed of screen renewal and data display is 30 c. System software works on the basis of intellectual algorithms including algorithms of filtration, image recognition, fuzzy logic and others. The algorithms allow solving the task of signal-to-noise discrimination, determine the type and estimate the signal source hazard level. The role of tuning specialists and technical support at the initial stage of monitoring is highlighted. It is noted that monitoring can guarantee the necessary efficiency and reliability provided it includes all listed above components, such as automated hardware-software means, statistically proved technology, qualified personnel.

Determining the Degree of Anisotropy of Thin-Sheet Rolled Steel Using Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers and Lamb Waves
The results of theoretical and experimental studies of ultrasonic Lamb waves propagation in rolled sheets of carbon steels are presented. Based on research, measurements of the acoustic anisotropy and its distribution over the surface of the sheet were carried out using electromagnetic acoustic method. The dependences of sensitivity to changes in the speed elastic moduli of symmetric, antisymmetric, SH-waves on the ratio of the rolled thickness and wavelength are calculated. It is shown that the competent choice of the frequency range for a given rolled thickness provides maximum sensitivity of selected Lamb wave mode to acoustic properties anisotropy, and increase estimation accuracy of the anisotropy factor. The analysis of acoustic anisotropy coefficient changes subject to the sheet thickness and unevenness. Distinctive features of the proposed method are presented in comparison with waves of horizontal polarization traditionally used to evaluate the acoustic anisotropy.

Experience of High-Energy Computed Tomography of Modern Vacuum Devices
Since occurrence of Edison’s bulb and Crookes’ "cathode-ray" tube 130 years ago, the vacuum devices retain up still a prominent place in the various fields of civil and defense technique. Vacuum devices have a complex structure of various materials (metals, glass, and ceramics). Their technology includes a lot of operations, disturbance each of which can lead to failure of the final product. Non-destructive quality testing of initial materials and structure members, accuracy assemblage, and relative positioning of components, as well as flaw detection of many welded and soldered joints will help to ensure a high reliability of vacuum devices, improve their technology and reduce production costs. This article presents the results of non-destructive high-energy tomographic testing major types of modern vacuum devices. They convincingly demonstrate that computed tomography can be an important tool for monitoring the level of technology and quality of manufacture of devices and can also be used to compare similar products from different manufacturers, including foreign ones.
